SLEEPCHAMBER~1994 by Laura Graff                                               (Craig Wein, Ashley Swanson, John Zewizz, Andrew Woolf, Jay Keegan)

Playing THE RATSKELLER-(The Rat) in Boston strangely waz so uninhibited because all the performances with THE BARBITCHUETTES we played there. There waz the natural raunchy style ov real Musick that felt comfortable -(sometimes)-. A dark and broken in environment. Everyone present iz working so hard to establish their Image and Importance. Its a rough place at times. Then it got rough with certain bands. During RED SOX Baseball games crowds mixed badly. Fights were very common, Yet it when on for years. Everyone knew to always check if there waz ” a game”. Then you weighed the odds. SLEEPCHAMBER played one night of a REX SOX baseball game. There waz a lot ov violence. I Checked every offer to perform there … from then on.

There are, I believe certain Musick can affect listeners in a unconscious emotional state. Scientist proved that when Musick iz being enjoyed it increases dopamine in the brain. Causing euphoric stages of enjoyment. SLEEPCHAMBER haz experimented with every Hoax & Hex in our Sound Library -(obviously)- I began to study audience members… those ov limited Insight might be affected through emotional Flux, Frustration, Confusion, Anger and a few times even Rage. I saw it, but did not understand it at that time. Enchanting any audience and capturing their attention, emotions and expectations iz not a simple task. You have to be the main power source. You direct this underground surreal-fetish, burlesque show with established Respect. I won’t lie, az far az SLEEPCHAMBER popularity in Boston, they generally Hate Us. But there others that do like us, Familiars. That stick out just like us.  They are Individuals. In the audience or later have found their way into the SLEEPCHAMBER Den. They bring their talent and offer it to be worthy ov being part ov Something that iz admired and rejected. But contains a seductive and aggressive primal excusive to release your Inhibitions. I’m singing about fetishes and urges. The Musick-(most times)- captures your energy-flow. The Sound Frequency we use a lot iz around 10 Hz. causing emotional stimulation.                                THE BARBITCHUETTES I picked except for a few Laura Graff and me chose in the late 90’s.  Then, I let THE BARBITCHUETTES pick a few ov their friends or something. It worked out fine. Somehow. Most ov THE BARBITCHUETTES were 8s &10’s. Each one more different than the other. I wonder how I did continue the concept az long az I did. (1990-2001). I waz a mess and it waz obvious at times. No one offered any assistance because I waz so controlling. I depended on my Insight to influence everyone.. It waz all a ‘Rite ov Passage’ to me. Now I’ll agree for over a few decades the baited Romance into the Underground groups ov Sex, Drugs, Violence, (There iz very little Rock & Roll in Focus at this stage ov our reputation). Az a Heroin addict, everyone in SLEEPCHAMBER iz/waz given to the next group ov INNER-X-WORKERS-(3)- to organize just what they had a good talent at. Up to 26+ people would work along together organizing the Live Performances by SLEEPCHAMBER & THE BARBITCHUETTES … Over the past 30+ years many Band members & in the 90’s BARBITCHUETTES came and went. Some returned for brief projects.

LIVE SOUND :

SLEEPCHAMBER~ 1/18/1996 Middle East Sound-Check “Silvermoon” -(Craig Wein, Spike Devitt, John Zewizz, Andrew Woolf)

An Experience where experimenting with different forms ov Energy Focus. (Processing any and all emotional stimulation that the audience iz generating …Refined …Released …. It doez not take a long time before you Burn Out without understanding the stress expense you are saving.    You give the work to others and you know you have to depend on them sometimes. Or it can fail against your own commitment all together. A lot ov just killing time. Praying you can finish the Overview-sound-check-(PAs & Stage monitors), maintaining every type plug connection and cable length possible. Continued by the count down to ‘who iz doing what’. Checking the Fan setting, and starting the Incense burning. Followed by The BARBITCHUETTE~ Playlist with Songs and which Vixen iz in what song. Quick Monitor (stage)-Soundcheck. Fog Machine warmed up for the audience ?. (Not used on the stage). That smoke you see on stage drifts up. (Why the Fan). The enchantment ov effecting many with Energy Focus and Processing demands total Conviction. Somewhat ov a primal-adrenaline state-ov-Mind. A connection. Yet also disconnection. A surreal piece ov time you own to prove that you matter. Why should you matter ? Even if you do matter. SHIT …doez it really matter ? Sometimes YES …Sometimes- NO .(a lot) –                                            Plus check to see … Who iz here and who iz not. And Why ?. If you wait, at all … you are behind. Always struggling with all aspects ov your life attempting to keep up. Many bekum complacent and surrender due to lack ov Will. We currently live in a Culture where the population lives in Fear. Totally unconscious to Organic Minds Idolizing and Desiring the Synthetic. Ov our Time.

THE MIDDLE EAST Club-Cambridge, Mass

THE MIDDLE EAST Club in Cambridge waz a different story in performing than at THE RAT. (that had no dressing room). The next step up. Az far az Night Clubs go.  THE MIDDLE EAST had a better Sound System. It also had a bit better House Lighting possibilities .. .and higher intentions and expectations. It waz literally across from MANRAY. Behind THE MIDDLE EAST but facing street front on street. Both Clubs drew big crowds constantly. And both clubs always were fair and lived up to their payment promise. With the SLEEPCHAMBER incense that iz always billowing into the audience. A state ov Trance begins. The audience also seems to bekum extremely thirsty. I’ve been told that “when SLEEPCHAMBER uses their Incense… more people drink, and drink heavy” by one ov their bartenders. . This iz why its so much different than THE RAT, (which haz no practical Dressing Room). Fairly ..the ‘Dressing Room’ at THE MIDDLE EAST Club iz somewhat odd. Its downstairs from stage right. Every time a BARBITCHUETTE enters in darkness to perform her invokation ov my story. A big fucking light from the ‘Dressing Room’ lights the whole rear stage with distraction. A major problem I thought.                        Eventually I refined THE BARBITCHUETTES in suggestions altering their primal sexual urge to keep pushing the Rush. Almost every show from 1992 to 1999 many BARBITCHUETTES  bekum sexually uninhibited and stimulated. Making the ‘Performance’ Real Arousal on stage. I think people see it.          THE MIDDLE EAST on my first Downstairs club show …I wanted $35,00 for a performance. We talked and agreed to $25,00. THE MIDDLE EAST waz Nervous about booking downstairs -All Night one band and charging $15. a ticket in 1991. We Sold Out but the staff had so many on their Gest List ..SLEEPCHAMBER waz lucky to make $800. You bet your ass I had ‘My Rules’ …refined clearly after that. After the draw THE BARBITCHUETTES were causing. They aged like fine wine. When certain BARBITCHUETTES became naturals to songs like “Anakonda”, “Red Panties”, etc ~ You are watching early BARBITCHUETTE performances. I waz still working out the kinks and watching a BARBITCHUETTE evolution. It really evolved after about two performances. Then all The Pride are warmed up with confidence and sexual energy. I enjoyed watching it grow in uninhibited young Women. Not just dancing. They are performing sexually. Eroticka :: ::    I know all THE BARBITCHUETTES very personally. They are My Pride. I will always adore the time I spent with them. I am Happy to share theze Moments ov SLEEPCHAMBER and The BARBITCHUETTES with you. More to kum. FULL SHOWS
