In 1990 MADONNA released her song and video “Justify My Love”. I waz by no means a MADONNA fan. I waz captured by yhe Black & White erotic video and the dead pan style ov her singing. I thought it waz much like my own style ov singing. The fetish approach waz timed with my first experiments with my BARBITCHUETTE burlesque vixen dancers. I waz always seeking new arrangements durring SLEEPCHAMBER Live performances. I managed to rekord the vinyl 45 rpm single and produce a Black & White video much in the same style ov hers in 1991. I even released a VHS Video single ov the song.
It sold quite well wholesale. The other song to be on the flip ov the 7″vinyl single waz an edited early version rekorded at Newbury Sound Studio in Boston from 1989 called “NO ONES HEART BEATS HARDER”. Not very complex, but contained that SLEEPCHAMBER originality. The band line up waz a Russian new member ARTHUR WOZNIC. More ov a DJ but had a clean ear and some serious equiptment that matched hiz talent. He waz brought to me by a Scotish guitar player- ASHLEY SWANSON. (complete opposite styles). But after JONATHAN BRILEY, TIONE and EUGENE DIFRANCISCO were evolving into ex-members and part timers. This SLEEPCHAMBER Trio fit somewhat perfectly. ARTHUR mixed and produced the vinyl single. I had already mixed the other song and edited it for a single. The vinyl single waz released first. 500 Black vinyl copies and 2500 Red vinyl colored copies. ASHLEY SWANSON designed the lables. With BARBITCHUETTE~ MiMi singing a back up harmony.
I waz unsure how this song would work in the SLEEPCHAMBER Live sets. It waz a bit more commercial sounding. But I made sure the sub-bass kick drum waz always thumping …
THE BARBITCHUETTES loved the song ov course. It waz a bit tricky playing the rhythms if the stage monitors were junk. Most liked it … Then I went to work on the videos. I waz really spending time producing some highly erotick videos for SLEEPCHAMBER and WOMEN OF THE SS releases on VHS Tapes.

I Filmed the JUSTIFY MY LOVE video in one day. I had a pride ov wild vixens that were more than happy to be part ov the video. I made two versions ov the final video. One waz released on the VHS Single. The other versio waz released on the VHS release SEDUCTION. A collection ov rare and erotick SLEEPCHAMBER videos.

We had a couple ov audio mixes. ARTHUR actually sang one in Russian to send home to Russia. I had mixed a more heavyer mix that waz released on the SLEEPCHAMBER CD “SOPOR”. I added different synth turned up the vocals and added a heavyer kick drum.

Last ov all a ‘Behind the Scenes’ look at filming the JUSTIFY MY LOVE video. I thought you might enjoy the emotions and moods when I work with my BARBITCHUETTES. Take in mind theze were a very early line up. Still did a great classic video and performed it perfectly live. At some point it will seem obvious that many ov us are using Heroin and drinking Vodka-(Stoli). This waz 23 years ago. We have all grown up since then. The flip song to the JUSTIFY MY LOVE vinyl 7″ waz NO ONES HEART BEATS HARDER. It waz also released on the VHS Video single. Its time haz been edited by atleast 3-minutes. The original demo waz 6-7 minutes long. We rekorded it at Newbury Sound Studio-Boston a year before. JEFF DOVNER & BARBITCHUETTE- SIN were the engineers. We were all a bit distracted. The only thing ready waz the Lyrics. Finished rekording, & mixing in one 8-hour session. I wrote them about the relationship I waz having with BARBITCHUETTE- Laura Graff. We were madly in Love and when she first moved into my place she waz having constant nightmares. That eventually vanished in 6-months.
THE MODEL iz friend MUNICO. I filmed her footage at her apartment. She waz actually shocked at some ov the footage. Suggesting it may be too sexual. I told her it waz no problem and she would enjoy the finished Video. She did too. I Mastered it on a Super VHS tape using a ‘Colorizer’ and a Panasonic MX-10 digital mixer.
